About Erika

It is often difficult to seek help for one’s internal struggles, and that is why it is so important for me to create a comfortable, safe, and non-judgmental environment where people can share their story. I believe that each and every client is unique, and therefore, every client requires a plan that is tailored to them.

I spent my career thus far working with clients who experienced significant trauma in their lives, and as such, trust is a fundamental component of the therapeutic relationship I strive to build. My work in a hospital out-patient clinic gave me experience in working with those suffering from anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, personality disorders and psychosis. I am a firm believer that our early childhood experiences are significant in shaping who we are, how we view ourselves, and how we view the world.

My approach is based on the biopsychosocial model that encompasses multiple factors in human development. I believe it is important to consider family history, culture, social experience, and biological factors. Sometimes these factors lead us to cope with situations in effective ways while other times they leave us coping in ways that are no longer adaptive. My role is to walk with my client and to help my client help themselves.

I always seek to give my clients understanding and compassion so they can freely explore who they are in a meaningful way, further encouraging their growth as human beings.
