About Andrea

In 2021 I began pursuing my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology while continuing to work as a front-line police officer for the RCMP in rural Alberta. The similarities between the two occupations are surprisingly similar: a desire to make a difference, hearing a client’s difficulties and often their traumatic experiences during their most vulnerable moments, and helping clients to feel safe and understood.

My extensive professional and personal experience has translated to a non-judgmental understanding of first-responder culture and a deep empathy for all human experience. I feel fortunate to continue my work as a police officer and supervisor with over 19 years’ experience while also working with clients as a Registered Provisional Psychologist. In my work as a Registered Provisional Psychologist, I explore clients’ current and past experiences to cope with challenges including PTSD, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, grief and loss, addictions, anger, stress and loneliness.

My approach is based on therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). The intention behind ART is to support clients with emotional intensity and create positive thoughts using therapist-directed bilateral eye movements, similar to process of EMDR. This method is meant to lessen or alleviate negative symptoms surrounding difficult memories and feelings (see video). ART can help to support clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, phobias and PTSD.

Hold onto your story. Not the suffering that comes with it.

Modalities Offered:

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Trauma Informed Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

ART is one of the modalities Andrea uses to support clients with PTSD, depression, and anxiety including phobias. Please see the video below to learn more about this modality.
